Mental illness is a health condition that involves change in emotion, behavior or thinking and could be associated with some distress in family, work or social activities. It can affect working and personal relationships.
1 in every 8 people have some mental issues.
Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood to adulthood. Physical health and mental health, both are necessary for overall health. They both totally depend on each other. For example depression can increase the possibility of diabetes, heart attack and stroke. Meantime, the chronic conditions can increase the risk of mental illness. Mental illness is treatable. Overthinking, stress, anxiety, unequal distribution of resources in society, unemployment and lack of opportunity are different reasons of mental illness.
Following are some advised and practiced ways to cope with mental health.

RELIGION AND SPIRITUALITY:

Your religion nourishes your spirituality. They both are similar in their roots, but different in practice.
Religion is a group of organized and community based system of beliefs, norms, worships, personal and social values and rights while spirituality is a sense of connection with someone, who is the greatest and most powerful.

Path to spirituality is vary from person to person. 80% of those suffers mental illness are coping through religious practices. Islam enforces the importance of physical as well as mental well-being, and Quran is used as guideline to those who are suffering from emotional distress and aim to live a
healthy and meaningful life. Namaz has many psychological effects on our brain and helps to overcome may issues like anger, anxiety, stress and depression.

BE A NATURE LOVER:

Natural environments, green spaces, animals and birds, mountains, snow, seas all can ease emotional distress and stimulate feelings of inner peace.
Nature has very soothing and calming impact on our health. By visiting a natural park, sitting calmly on lake, walking barefoot on a sea shore, playing with mud with a little gardening activities are very gentle ways to feel the mother nature. It feels like nature is penetrating in you soul and boost your mental health.
Try to avoid the digital distractions while catching up your near found calm as the repeated beep is enough to bring you back in noisy and frantic world.

ADOPT HEALTHY LIFE STYLE:

Unhealthy lifestyle__ saturated fats, junk food, canned and processed meals, dehydration, heavy sugar consumption, lack of sleep__ also lead to mental illness. Simple and healthy food with unsaturated fats are fuel for your body. Healthy food like fruits, vegetables, whole grains and meat provide essential nutrition to keep body fit active and energetic. You eat better, you feel better, and as you feel better your mind feel relaxation and calmness.
Enough amount of water is necessary to keep you hydrated and fresh all day long. Dehydration cause dizziness and laziness. Instead of processed juices and canned beverages, always go for water and fresh juices. Always keep a check on your sugar intake. Sugar may give you a sudden energy boost,
but after that you feel more tiredness and irritable. For many people, disturb sleeping pattern is the first thing, they suffer when they are struggling with their mental health. Adequate amount of peaceful sleep is backbone of your mental health. When you get enough amount of sleep, it is easy for you to cope with any type of stress, anxiety or depression, lack in concentration, bad memory etc.

LIMITED SOCIAL APPEARANCE:

Too much alone might be lead loneliness as well as too much socialization both risked to effect your mental well-being.
“Social media is training us to compare our lives, instead of appreciating everything we are. No wonder why everyone is always depressed.” (Bill Murray)
There is a lot on internet that might disturb your mental health. Spending unnecessary ime on internet would effect your inner peace. Excess of screen time and bright lights effect your mental as well as physical health. Try to limit the screen time and all time availability on social platforms. Too much socialization also effects your personal life that later leads to anger and irritability.

Instead of too much screening try to read books, listen some motivational lectures, some physical activities, gardening, sports and any other way to to cultivate your inner talent and skills.

SELF APPRAISAL:

Until you don’t love your self you can not love with others. You don’t need to evaluate yourself according to peoples’ remarks, don’t need to judge yourself from others’ perception.
Love yourself– as the same who you are, appreciate your strengths, consider your flaws, enjoy your little success, you are uniquely you– and then work on flaws to overcome those, not for others, but for the person inside you. Indulge yourself in some progressive activities. Meditations, sports, social work all are the best ways to show your self-love and to get mental calmness.

LAST THOUGHTS:

Mental illness is not issue, issue is how you cure it? You can not control your mental illness, but you can control your response to symptoms.
Mental health and calmness is possible for everyone, it may not happen overnight. It requires consistency and patience to get the desire results. It takes strength and persistence to achieve mental calmness and inner peace. Sometimes you will feel total depress and helpless in front of your illness, but you have to stand again and again to defeat this illness. Your this tiredness is actually your strength.
Practical and habitual change can help you in your fight. Take these changes into consideration, and you will feel a clear change in your life.
